Memphis Just Made HISTORY! First Union Bookstore in Memphis!
Memphis Win!
May 20, 2026

The workers at Novel — Memphis's favorite independent bookstore — voted YES today to form a union with CWA Local 3866. They are now the FIRST unionized bookstore in Memphis! Novel joins a growing movement of union bookstores across the South, including McKay's Books in Knoxville (2022) and Shelf Life Books in Richmond (2024).

Why this matters for YOU

Memphis has been making labor history since 1968. Today, bookstore workers added their chapter to that story — right here in YOUR city. The next time you visit Novel in Laurelwood, you're walking into a union shop. That's the power of workers standing together — and it's happening in Memphis RIGHT NOW.

School Bus Drivers Just Won a HUGE Contract!
Brand New
May 18, 2026

22,000 school bus workers across the country — the Teamsters at First Student — joined together and won a new contract. For the first time ever, 10,000 of them will get money for retirement. They also got better health care and stronger safety rules.

Why this matters for YOU

If you take a school bus to school, those drivers are union workers. The grown-ups who get you to school safely every day stood together as a UNION and demanded — and won — fair treatment. That's collective bargaining in real life, happening right now.
