Standing strong for working families

"We All Will Govern Together."
A second-generation hog and cattle farmer, small-business owner, and volunteer firefighter — born and raised in Dyersburg — running to give his hometown a government that listens, streets that don't flood, and a future worth staying for.

Malik was raised on the family farm and still works it today — hogs, cattle, and long days. He's a member of the Black Cattleman Association of Dyer County (est. 2020), carrying on a legacy of Black agriculture in West Tennessee.
Through Garrett Farms & Freight, Malik hauls livestock, grain, and produce — "Moving Farms. Delivering Trust." He knows what it takes to meet a payroll and keep a rural economy moving.
When the tones drop, Malik answers. As a volunteer firefighter he's run into the moments most people run from — service isn't a slogan for him, it's a habit.

The issues, in his own words — from the streets that flood to the families we're losing.
Dyersburg suffers from flooding on every side of the city. Malik will fight for real drainage and flood-control investment, and for the road and bridge repairs our city has needed for years.
Un-monopolize the housing market. Bring our homes and commercial buildings up to code — inside and out — with new siding, clean streets, and a downtown that looks as proud as the people who live here.
Dyersburg runs on a mayor-alderman system. Malik believes it's time to look at a professional city-manager format — more accountability, more efficiency, and government that answers to every neighborhood.
For a community and county this size, our murder rate and fentanyl overdose rate are unbearable. Malik will treat it like the emergency it is — prevention, treatment, and community safety working together.
Building safer neighborhoods and creating opportunities for all.
Supporting local business, attracting investment, and creating jobs.
Investing in our youth, schools, and the future of Dyersburg.
Open government and working together for a better Dyersburg.

I AM ENDORSING AS…

MALIK GARRETT FOR MAYOR
DYERSBURG, TENNESSEE · NOVEMBER 3, 2026
August 21, 2026
To the Voters of Dyersburg:
I write to you not as a politician, but as someone who has known Malik for years. And I can tell you plainly: there is no one who loves Dyersburg more than Malik Garrett.
The Malik I know is the first to show up and the last to leave. He is the young man working the family farm before dawn, the volunteer firefighter who answers the call at two in the morning, and the neighbor who checks on you when the water rises. At 29 years old, he has already given this community more service than most give in a lifetime.
Malik is running because he refuses to accept flooded streets, crumbling roads, housing folks can't afford, and a murder and overdose crisis that is stealing our people. He listens first, works hard, and tells the truth — that is exactly what our city needs in its next Mayor.
Early voting runs October 14–29, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Join me in voting Malik Garrett for Mayor of Dyersburg — because We All Will Govern Together.
Respectfully,
[Your Name]
