Workers at Novel — the beloved independent bookstore in Laurelwood, East Memphis — voted YES today to form a union with CWA Local 3866. Novel becomes the first unionized bookstore in Memphis. The win adds Memphis to a growing wave of unionized indie bookstores across the South, joining McKays Books in Knoxville (CWA Local 3805, 2022) and Shelf Life Books in Richmond, VA (UFCW Local 400, 2024).
