The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) is a labor union of 1.2 million hard-working men and women in the U.S. and Canada. A 501(c)(5) nonprofit organization, UFCW represents workers in grocery, meatpacking, food processing, retail, healthcare, cannabis, chemical, distillery, and many other industries.
Founded in 1979 through the merger of the Retail Clerks International Union and the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen, UFCW has become the largest private-sector union for food workers in North America — and one of the most powerful organizing forces in the U.S. labor movement.
In May 2025, UFCW elected Milton Jones as its new International President, succeeding Marc Perrone who retired after a decade of leadership.
