IBEW Local 474 represents the skilled electricians and electrical workers who keep Memphis lit, wired, and working — from hospitals and factories to homes and data centers.
About Our Local
Chartered in 1891 — the same decade the IBEW itself was born — Local 474 is one of the oldest IBEW locals in the country. From its hall at 1870 Madison Avenue, the local dispatches skilled union electricians across Memphis and West Tennessee, negotiates strong contracts with signatory contractors, and trains the next generation through a nationally recognized apprenticeship.
As part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 474 members earn fair wages with real health insurance and pensions — and the hall doubles as a home for the Memphis labor movement, hosting the Memphis & West TN Central Labor Council's monthly meetings.
