What We Do

The role of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO is to serve as the unified voice of all organized workers in the Commonwealth — and to be a voice for all working people, those in unions and those not yet organized.

Our mission is to improve the lives of working families by working for economic, social, and racial justice in the workplace, in our communities, our state, and our nation. Our vision is of a fair and just society that benefits all working people — not a system that’s rigged in favor of the wealthy few.

Current Priorities
What MA labor is fighting for right now.
Protect America's Workforce Act
Reversing the union-busting executive order and restoring collective bargaining rights to 1 million federal workers. Already passed the House; now headed to the Senate.
Solidarity with Starbucks Workers
Baristas in 60+ cities on strike for a fair contract — fighting for better pay, fair scheduling, and respect on the job. No contract, no coffee.
AI Guardrails in the Workplace
MA AFL-CIO testified before the Joint Committee on Advanced IT — placing worker-centered guardrails on AI use in MA workplaces.
Restore VA Workers' Union Rights
Action alert to restore Veterans Affairs workers' union rights and protect the backbone of veteran care.
