What Is a Registered Apprenticeship?
It's an “earn-while-you-learn” program that combines paid on-the-job training (OJT) with related classroom instruction (RTI). You're a full employee from day one, you get progressive wage increases as you master skills, and you finish with a nationally recognized credential — all with little or no student debt. In union apprenticeships, everyone earns the same negotiated rate: no wage gaps, no negotiating for less.

1. Explore the Trades
Find the trade that fits you. Try the free 3D/VR Trades Sim to get hands-on before you commit.
2. Build Your Readiness
A pre-apprenticeship program builds the math, safety, and hands-on basics to pass entrance tests. ProGeny Place and Southwest TN Community College can prep you.
3. Find a Program
Contact the local for your trade below, search Apprenticeship.gov's Job Finder, or get one-on-one help from Apprenticeship TN.
4. Apply Directly
There's no single application — you apply directly with the program sponsor (the union local's Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee). You'll sign a written agreement.
5. Earn & Advance
Work full-time while you learn, with guaranteed raises as your skills grow. Finish with a nationally recognized credential and zero student debt.
