The Union That Keeps Lansing Running

UAW Local 2256 is an amalgamated local representing a diverse assortment of public, trades, and professional employees across the Lansing, Michigan area — proof that the UAW is far more than autoworkers.

The local's seven units span the services that keep a community running: the City of Lansing, Ingham County, Potter Park Zoo, East Lansing Public Library, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Accident Fund, and Saylor-Beall — from public service and healthcare to library services and manufacturing.

Local 2256's committees keep members engaged year-round: the Civil & Human Rights Committee marches in Lansing's annual Juneteenth Parade alongside Local 652, and the Community Services Committee runs food drives collecting pantry items at the union hall for neighbors in need.
