The parts that keep Freightliner running — Daimler components and logistics workers in Gastonia.
UAW Local 5286 represents workers at Daimler Truck North America's Components and Logistics facility on Tulip Drive in Gastonia, North Carolina — a plant that has been fabricating, stamping, and sub-assembling cab and chassis parts since 1978, along with aftermarket packaging and line sequencing for Freightliner and the whole Daimler family.
In 2024, Gastonia workers helped win the historic UAW–Daimler Truck master agreement: at least 25% in raises, cost-of-living adjustments and profit sharing for the first time in company history, and the end of wage tiers — ratified 94.5% across 7,400 workers at six facilities. The local's own bargaining committee also secured local gains on overtime rotation, holiday pay, and job security.
The local runs its own website with benefits resources — 401(k) plans, plan descriptions, and direct links to the Daimler Total Rewards and Blue Cross Blue Shield portals — so members can find what they need in one place.
