Who We Are
TCU Lodge 794 is a local lodge of the Transportation Communications Union, a division of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM). Founded in 2019, Lodge 794 represents railroad and transportation workers in the Memphis Tri-State Metro Area.
At TCU Lodge 794, working together and standing as one are at the forefront of our efforts. We are a dedicated labor organization fighting for the rights of our union members, forming successful partnerships, and negotiating better working conditions.
Who We Represent
TCU & the Railroad Labor Movement
The Transportation Communications Union traces its roots to 1899, when railroad clerks first organized to fight for fair wages and safe working conditions. Over more than a century, TCU has been at the forefront of the American railroad labor movement — negotiating contracts, filing grievances, and standing up for the men and women who keep America's freight and passenger rail systems running.
In 2005, TCU merged with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), one of the largest and most respected industrial trade unions in North America. This merger strengthened TCU's bargaining power and gave its members access to IAM's vast resources, training programs, and political advocacy network.
Lodge 794 was chartered in 2019 to serve transportation workers in the Memphis Tri-State Metro Area. Though one of TCU's newer lodges, Lodge 794 has quickly developed a proud, diverse leadership team and a growing membership committed to the principles of equal work, equal pay, and workplace dignity.

In an industry where railroad companies continue to post record profits while squeezing workers on pay, benefits, and staffing, TCU Lodge 794 pushes forward — fighting at the bargaining table and on the shop floor for the wages and conditions our members deserve.
