In just four years MVAHS has helped nearly 700 adults earn their diplomas — including its largest class ever, 151 graduates, in December 2025. Real counselors, advisors, a life coach and intervention support — a full staff committed to getting every learner across the finish line.
Graduates include parents who finished alongside their own kids — one mother and daughter even graduated together. It is never too late.
Tennessee residents 18+ with a computer and internet connection qualify — community donations through SchoolSeed remove the remaining barriers.

Leadership
Founding Principal · Memphis Virtual Adult High School
A proud LeMoyne-Owen College graduate with a master's from Union University and both an Education Specialist and Doctoral degree from Freed-Hardeman University, Dr. Bachelor has spent 18+ years transforming lives across traditional, turnaround, alternative, virtual, and adult education. As MVAHS's founding principal he has helped more than 700 adult learners earn their diplomas in four years — many while working and raising families. He is a published expert in Social Emotional Learning and serves Memphis alongside his wife, the Honorable Judge Taylor Bachelor of General Sessions Criminal Court Division 7. And this partnership is personal: Dr. Bachelor comes from a proud union family of former union members, and President Kevin Bradshaw has known him — and his family — since Sam's college days. Labor built the values; Dr. Bachelor built them into a school.
MVAHS opened its virtual doors with a simple promise — that the adults Memphis wrote off as dropouts were really graduates waiting for a school that fit their lives. Four years later the receipts are in: nearly 700 diplomas conferred, a December 2025 class of 151 (the largest yet), and testimonial after testimonial from Memphians who rebuilt their confidence, their careers, and their families' futures. 'The staff believed in me when I had stopped believing in myself,' says one graduate. That's not marketing — that's Memphis magic.
Here's why this partnership matters to labor: every union apprenticeship in the building trades requires a high school diploma or GED — it's step one on the application. For too many Memphians, that missing credential is the wall between them and a union career. MVAHS tears that wall down for free, and hands them something better than a GED. For our District 10 Labor Education & Trades Pathways participants who haven't finished school, the pathway is now complete: earn your diploma at MVAHS, then walk straight into our pre-apprenticeship program.
